Recitation of the Qur’an

Shaykh Salih al-Ja’fari says in his book, al-Ilham al-Nafi:

Recitation of the Qur’an has been for us a cause for the rending of the veils and the fastest in raising in levels. So, do not be heedless of these words of mine, and stick to the recitation of the Qur’an as it will open the locks for you. We have not found anything faster for openings for our murids, those we know and know us.

Know! Then know! And open the ears of your heart for that which you will receive; that every letter of the Qur’an is light, knowledge, secrets, subtleties, goodness, righteousness, victory, unveilings, ecstasy, nearness, admonition, love, and establishment. The reciter is rewarded by every letter with ten good deeds.

When you recite it, the rain laden clouds of its letters, all of them, pour down on you precious gems of splendid jewels. As a result, the world and its edifices become annihilated in front of you.

It (the Qur’an) is in front of you evident, a trustworthy companion; it clarifies for you that which is obscure; opens the doors of goodness and it is a medicine for your heart when it is sick. It is more merciful to you than any relative or kin. It is a defense for you from passions when its tempests violently blow against you. Its depictions describe for you the ways to salvation and honor, and it prepares your ‘self’ for what is greater. Submit at its allegorical verses and say Allah, the Exalted, knows best.
