General Istikhara

Some of the shaykhs would encourage to make a general istikhara for the good of the day and what it brings. Below is the supplication of general istikhara by Shaykh Ahmad ibn Idris:

O Allah, I ask You for the best by Your knowledge and I ask You for strength by Your power and I ask You to give me of Your immense bounty. You have power and I do not. You know and I do not. You are the knower of all the unseen.
O Allah, all that You know from all of my speech and movements and stillness and thoughts and all my breaths, always eternally and forever, from this day of mine and what comes after it, until the end of my life, that is good for me in my religion, my life, and my livelihood, and the end of my affair, and the sooner of it and the later of it, then ordain it for me and make it easy for me and then bless me in it.
O Allah, all that You know from all of my speech and movements and stillness and thoughts and all my breaths, always eternally and forever, from this day of mine and what comes after it, until the end of my life, that is bad for me in my religion, my life, and my livelihood, and the end of my affair, and the sooner of it and the later of it, then avert it from me and avert me from it and ordain for me what is good wherever it may lie and make me content with it. You have power over all things.
