THE INTERCESSION OF THE BELOVED ﷺ IS FOR THE SINNER
Sidna Shaykh Muhammad Salih al-Ja’fari was approached by a man who looked extremely distressed. If a person were to see him, it could easily be assumed that this man did not know happiness.
The man greeted our Shaykh and said, “Mawlana, I can not sleep at night. I can not taste food nor do I have an appetite. I am unable to see anything good in my life! Why? Because I have sinned and I am a sinner. I am greatly worried that I will not receive the intercession of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Day of Judgment, because I am not deserving of it.”
The Shaykh paused for a moment. He looked the man in his eyes, intensely, and said “There is no power nor might except through Allah! Send prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ! Our Shaykh has prescribed the Qur’an, the love of the Prophet ﷺ and the Ahl al-Bayt, and our Ahzab – this is your fortress and your vehicle to Allah the Exalted, and to his Beloved ﷺ. Be steadfast in these things and don’t be overcome by grief and worry. We are people of high spiritual ambitions and of those who believe in the vast mercies and bountiful blessings of our Creator, Blessed and Exalted is He.
Our master, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “My intercession is for the people of major sins among my nation.” This is a well known hadith in the Sunan of Imam al-Tirmidhi. Have faith! Be a man of faith! You want the Beloved’s ﷺ intercession? Be a man of Salawat – increase in this. Our Shaykh and Imam, Mawlana Shaykh Salih has gifted us an all-encompassing, beautiful collection of Salawat – read this and establish your station in this life and the next!”.
The man listened attentively to the Shaykh and hung on his every word. He responded to the Shaykh that he would never leave the recitation of the Salawat of Shaykh Salih for as long as he lives, and then left with a smile.
