Special Prayers

Here are some of the prayers of the Tariqa that are generally read for special occasions and needs. The following files are in Arabic and we hope to share their English translations soon.

The prayer on the Prophet (ﷺ) is one of the greatest forms of approaching God and cleansing the heart. This collection of 40 Salawat by Shaykh Salih gives the reader a beautiful collection to utilise. They are brief enough to realistically use on a daily basis if one so chooses but lengthy enough to feel engaged in remembrance. However, they are usually read once a week individually or in a group.

The murīds of Shaykh Salih al-Jaʿfari are encouraged to gather twice weekly for group dhikr, called hadra. The hadra in our path is not like the popular hadra of the Shadhilīs which involve rhythmic movement or “dance”. The hadra of Shaykh Salih is simply the gathering for dhikr, whilst seated in uniform rows. One of the collections of awrād that is read in the hadra is known as Kanz al-Saʿāda found here.

This is the Jālibat al-Faraj. It is a rhyming supplication/duʿāʼ written by Shaykh Salih al-Jaʿfari beseeching Allāh Most High by his lofty and virtuous attributes. It has been prescribed by our teachers and the teachers of other paths, to read this in times of spiritual, physical and mental needs.

Shaykh Salih speaking of the supplications: The Opener of Locks (Fatiha al-Aqfal) , The Supplication for Near Ease (Dawat al-Yusr al-Qarib), and the Procurement of Relief (Jalibat al-Faraj) states that he saw his shaykh, Sayyid Abd al-Aali the son of shaykh Ahmad b. Idris, in a dream.
Shaykh Salih said to him, ” Teach me a supplication to bring about ease in ones’ affairs.”
Shaykh Abd al-Aali turned to him and said “Where is the poetry you composed that leads to Tawhid?”
Shaykh Salih then states, “It occurred to my mind that [he meant] these poems.”
