The Golden Chain of Shaykh Salih al-Ja’fari
Shaykh Salih al-Ja’fari, may Allah Most High be pleased with him, opened his
lessons with a famous introduction known as his ‘Golden Chain’:
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan.
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds, and may Allah, the Blessed
and Exalted, bless our master and liege Muhammad, and his family and all his companions, and grant them peace.
They said “Glory be to You! We have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.” (Quran 2:32).
“And with Him are the keys of the unseen, none knows them but He. And He knows
whatever there is in the land and in the sea; not a leaf falls, but He knows it. There is
not a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry, but (that it) is written in a Clear Record.” (Quran 6:59)
Then our Shaykh, may Allah Most High be pleased with him, would say:
And with the connected chains of learning to the Imams of Qur‘anic recitation, exegesis and hadith from the scholars of the noble Azhar and others! May Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, be pleased with them and allow us to benefit from them and allow you all to benefit from them and their knowledge! Ameen.
