Reading the Qur‘an with the barakah of Shaykh Salih

One of the prominent scholars of the Azhar related a story:

“In 1965, I entered the Azhar and I saw Shaykh Salih al-Ja’fari, and from that day I regularly attended his Friday lessons and the hadra. I would also attend the dhuhr prayer a lot, just to listen to him. One day, we were sitting with the Shaykh after the dhuhr prayer and he said, ‘I went to Shaykh al-Bajuri to visit him (at his grave) and to read the Fatiha for him. Shaykh al-Bajuri said to me (from his grave): ‘People are sad and are grief stricken with intense worry because they do not read the Qur’an’.’ From that day I studied how to read the Qur’an properly until I learnt and understood (gained mastery) the science of tajwid; and I have regularly and continuously read the Qur’an daily, with the baraka of Shaykh Salih”.
