Beware of Heedlessness
صَلِّ يَا رَبِّ عَلَى المُخْتَارِ مَنْ جَاءَ بِالخَيرِ فَعَمَّ الأَمَمَا
Ṣalli yā Rabb ʿalā al-mukhtāri man jā’a bi-l-khayri fa-ʿamma al-umamā
O Lord, send prayers upon the Chosen One, the one who brought goodness and spread it across all nations.
اِحْذَرِ الغَفْلَةَ فِي أَوْقَاتِهَا صَاحِبِ الغَفْلَةِ يَلْقَى النَّدَمَا
Iḥdhar al-ghaflata fī awqātihā ṣāḥiba al-ghaflati yalqā al-nadamā
Beware of heedlessness in its moments; whoever accompanies heedlessness meets regret.
ذِكْرُكَ اللهِ دَوَاءٌ وَهُدَى وَضِيَاءُ القَلْبِ لَمَّا أَظْلَمَا
Dhikruk Allāha dawā’un wa-hudā wa-ḍiyā’u al-qalbi lammā aẓlamā
Your remembrance of Allah is healing and guidance, and the light of the heart when it becomes dark.
اِحْذَرِ النِّسْيَانَ فِي أَذْكَرِهِ إِنَّ ذِكْرَ اللهِ يُحْيِي الهِمَمَا
Iḥdhar al-nisyāna fī adhkarihi inna dhikra Allāhi yuḥyī al-himamā
Beware of forgetfulness in remembering Him, for the remembrance of Allah revives aspirations.
اِحْذَرِ اليَأْسَ وَكُنْ ذَا ثِقَةٍ فِي الَّذِي يُعْطِي عَطَاءً كَرَمَا
Iḥdhar al-ya’sa wa-kun dhā thiqatin fī alladhī yuʿṭī ʿaṭā’an karamā
Beware of despair, and be one who trusts in the One who gives with generous bounty.
إِنَّ رَبَّ العَرْشِ فِي إِحْصَائِهِ عَمَّ أَهْلَ الأَرْضِ أَيْضًا وَالسَّمَا
Inna Rabba al-ʿarshi fī iḥṣā’ihi ʿamma ahla al-arḍi ayḍan wa-al-samā
Truly the Lord of the Throne, in His encompassing knowledge, covers the people of earth and heaven alike.
لَا تَقُلْ حَوْلِي وَإِنِّي إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ عَبْدٌ مُسْلِمٌ قَدْ أَسْلَمَا
Lā taqul ḥawlī wa-innī innamā anta ʿabdun muslimun qad aslamā
Do not say “my strength” or “I achieved this,” for you are only a Muslim servant who has submitted.
سَلِّمِ النَّفْسَ إِلَى خَالِقِهَا وَاذْكُرِ الخَالِقَ حَتَّى تُكْرَمَا
Sallimi al-nafsa ilā khāliqiha wa-udhkur al-khāliqa ḥattā tukramā
Surrender the soul to its Creator and remember Him until you are honored.
وَأَطِعْ أَقْوَالَهُ قَدْ أُنْزِلَتْ فِي كِتَابٍ مُحْكَمٍ قَدْ أُحْكِمَا
Wa-aṭiʿ aqwālahu qad unzilat fī kitābin muḥkamin qad uḥkimā
Obey His commands, for they were revealed in a perfected Book made firm.
لَا تُخالِفْ إِنَّ مَنْ خَالَفَهُ ضَلَّ سَعْيًا فِي الهَوَى وَاصْطَدَمَا
Lā tukhālif inna man khālafahu ḍalla saʿyan fī al-hawā wa-iṣṭadamā
Do not oppose the divine command; whoever opposes it becomes lost, pursuing desire until he crashes.
خَالِقُ الرَّحْمَةِ فِي أَوْقَاتِهَا رَاحِمُ الخَلْقِ جَمِيعًا رَحِمَا
Khāliqu al-raḥmati fī awqātihā rāḥimu al-khalqi jamīʿan raḥimā
The Creator of mercy in its moments is the One who shows mercy to all creation.
وَصَبُورٌ وَكَرِيمٌ ذُو عَطَا حَلَّ عَنْ حَصْرٍ عَطَاءً قَيِّمَا
Wa-ṣabūrun wa-karīmun dhū ʿaṭā ḥalla ʿan ḥaṣrin ʿaṭā’an qayyimā
He is patient and generous, possessing gifts that break through every limitation with noble abundance.
أَنْزَلَ الغَيْثَ فَأَحْيَا بَلْدَةً بَعْدَ مَوْتٍ أَنْبَتَ مَا قُسِمَا
Anzala al-ghaytha fa-aḥyā baldatan baʿda mawtin anbatā mā qusimā
He sent down rain and revived a land after death, causing it to grow what had been decreed for it.
يَسْتُرُ العَيْبَ وَلَا يَفْضَحُهُ وَبِغُفْرَانٍ وَجُودٍ أَذْعَمَا
Yasturu al-ʿayba wa-lā yafḍaḥuhu wa-bi-ghufrānin wa-jūdin adʿamā
He conceals faults without exposing them, increasing His servant in forgiveness and generosity.
وَاحِدٌ مُنْفَرِدٌ فِي مُلْكِهِ أَنْزَلَ العِلْمَ أَعَزَّ العُلَمَا
Wāḥidun munfaridun fī mulkihi anzala al-ʿilma aʿazza al-ʿulamā
He alone is singular in His dominion; He sent down knowledge and honored the scholars.
صَلِّ يَا رَبِّ عَلَى المُخْتَارِ مَنْ جَاءَ بِالخَيْرِ فَعَمَّ الأُمَمَا
Ṣalli yā Rabb ʿalā al-mukhtāri man jā’a bi-l-khayri fa-ʿamma al-umamā
O Lord, send prayers upon the Chosen One who brought goodness and spread it across all nations.
وَدَعَا الخَلْقَ إِلَى التَّوْحِيدِ مِن ظُلْمِ الشِّرْكِ لِنُورٍ تُتِمَّمَا
Wa-daʿā al-khalqa ilā al-tawḥīdi min ẓulmi al-shirki li-nūrin tutimmamā
He called creation to Divine Oneness, out of the darkness of shirk, toward a light made complete.
أَكْرَمُ الخَلْقَ كَرِيمٌ ذُو عَطَا أَجْوَدُ النَّاسِ بِغَيْثٍ قَدْ هَمَى
Akramu al-khalqi karīmun dhū ʿaṭā ajwadu al-nāsi bi-ghaythin qad hamā
The most generous of creation, possessing boundless giving, the most bountiful of people when mercy pours down.
صَاحِبُ الرَّوْضَةِ فِي أَنْوَارِهِ مَلَأَ الكَوْنَ ضِيَاءً وَتَمَا
Ṣāḥibu al-rawḍati fī anwārihi mala’a al-kawna ḍiyā’an wa-tamā
The Master of the Sacred Garden, through his lights, the universe is filled with radiance and completion.
شَافِعٌ لِلْخَلْقِ فِي اليَوْمِ الَّذِي حَيَّرَ الخَلْقَ وَمَنْ قَدْ ظَلَمَا
Shāfiʿun li-l-khalqi fī al-yawmi alladhī ḥayyara al-khalqa wa-man qad ẓalamā
He will intercede for creation on the Day that leaves all creation bewildered—including those who wronged themselves.
وَكَذَا آلٍ دَائِمًا وَتَعُمُّ الصَّحْبَ قَوْمًا كُرَمَا
Wa-kadhā ālin dā’iman wa-taʿummu al-ṣaḥba qawman kuramā
And likewise his Family forever, and his Companions, a people of noble character.
جَعْفَرِيُّ الأَصْلِ يَدْعُو رَبَّهُ رَاجِيًا لِلْغَفْرِ غُفْرًا عُمُمَا
Jaʿfarīyu al-aṣli yadʿū rabbahu rājiyan li-l-ghafri ghufran ʿumumamā
One of Jaʿfarī origin calls upon his Lord, hoping for forgiveness—complete and all-encompassing.
